Brian Chevalier and Susan
Hamlin are two of the Southern Adirondack’s most respected acoustic musicians.
They have over 50 years combined experience performing before audiences of all
ages, as solo touring and recording artists and in ensembles performing music
ranging from popular to Celtic/Roots. They've been bringing quality educational
programs to schools and libraries since 1996 -- as a duo with their hit program
Reading ROCKS!! -- and separately with a wide range of programs including Creative
Songwriting Workshops, Absolutely Adirondack, The Civil War: The Music of History,
Ireland: The Land of Song, Forever Wild: Create an Adirondack Musical, and multi-day
residencies through Capital Region Center For Arts In Education. Brian and Susan's arts-in-ed programs are regular recipients of Creative Connections, NYSCA Decentralization and other public and private grants.
Their professionalism, good
humor, outstanding performance skills and love of working with young people shine
through in Reading ROCKS!!, a program inspired by their wish to help parents and
teachers create a lifelong love of reading in young people. When asked, "Why
do you like to do Reading Rocks!! ?" Brian and Susan answer, "Plenty
of reasons... First, we just love to play music… we think good reading skills
are part of a successful lifestyle... and reading is just plain FUN!"
Susan Hamlin is a
full-time professional singer, guitarist, songwriter, guitar and vocal instructor
and recording artist. She is one of the Northeast’s most respected performers
of American and Celtic roots music, from coffeehouse to radio to concert stage.
Her children’s programs have been featured on WNYT TV Channel 13 "Forum"
with Benita Zahn and on WTEN Channel 10 “Children First.” Her self-produced CDs
“Younger Than The Sun” (2002) and “Magic” (1999) were released to critical acclaim
and extensive airplay on folk radio across the US and overseas.

Brian (Chip) Chevalier
has 25 years of experience as a performer, and has been a full-time musician for
the past 18 years. He studied classical guitar at Keene State College in NH.
He has worked extensively throughout the northeastern and southeastern
United States. A seasoned veteran, he does more than 350 shows a year! He works
with audiences of all ages, and performs in such venues as schools, colleges,
nursing homes, concerts, clubs and TV. "Absolutely Adirondack", a popular CD
featuring Brian's original music, was released in 2000. Brian is an experienced
artist educator and offers performances, residencies and workshops throughout
the upstate NY region. He has appeared on T V Channel 13, Albany, NY with Mark
Mulholland and a group of children for "Make a difference day."
