"Sailing in My Comfy Chair" (all ages)

© Brian Chevalier / Song Spun Music

Chorus
I’m journeying to places,
I’m sailing high seas,
I’m meeting new friends,
Now they’re traveling with me.
Deep into jungles,
Atop mountains high.
Right here in my comfy chair
With my books I can fly.

Who’s this I see walking,
Hey! It’s Winnie the Pooh!
Come on jump aboard!
‘Cause we’re leaving “The Wood”.
Next Amelia Bedelia,
She tries to do right.
She’s so misunderstood,
Try as she might.

(Chorus)

I think we’ll stop and see Arthur,
Pooh, Amelia, and I
And say hi to D.W.!
“You want to go for a ride”?
With Arthur aboard
Next it’s Curious George.
He’s always in trouble,
But hardly ever gets bored.

(Chorus)

Bridge:
With all these friends and stories
There’s no place I’d rather be,
So come on! Jump aboard!
Go sailing with me,
Deep into jungles,
Atop mountains high,
Right here in my comfy chair
With my books I can fly.
Last is the Jungle Book with Mogli and wolves, too
He faced Shere Khan
And he loved old Baloo.
With all of them aboard,
Now it’s time to say good-bye!
[spoken] We thank you all for having us.
It’s time for us to fly!

(Chorus) – twice to end

"Ask Your Librarian" (all ages)

© 1999 Brian Chevalier / Song Spun Music

I was at the library, looking for some books I knew,
There was Critter, Clifford, Dr. Seuss, just to mention a few.
I was thinking ‘bout something that my teacher said to me,
To figure out where things are at in the library.

Chorus
Ask your librarian__, she’s really there to help.
Ask your librarian__, to find a book and check it out.
Ask your librarian__, she’s really there to help.
Ask your librarian__, to find a book and check it out.

You know I really like to read about__
Clifford, The Big Red Dog,
Dr. Seuss, he makes me laugh,
And Little Critter, “Just Me and My Mom”.
I’ll bet there’s so much more great stuff
Just hiding those shelves.
If I want to find it all
I’ll have to ask for help.

(Chorus)

I walked right through the big front doors
And all that I could see,
Were oh so many, many books,
So this is the library!
I knew I had to have some help,
I was feeling kind of scared.
I remembered what my teacher said,
I asked someone who cares.
(Chorus)

I thought there were so many rules
Or that she might be mean.
Don’t talk! Don’t chew! Don’t pick your nose!
In the library__!
If I slipped and broke a rule
Who knows what she might do.
But in the end I found the truth__
She was really cool!
(Chorus)

"Late Night Readin' Blues" (grades: 3-6)

© Susan Hamlin / Flood Wood Music

Woke up this morning
Got those cobwebs in my head
My mamma gave a warning
But I can’t get out of bed

Outside the dawn is breakin’
My eyes don’ like the light
Try to get a wakin’
But I was readin’ half the night

Chorus:
Got those Late Night, Late Night Readin’ Blues!!
Got those page turnin', great night reading blues!

The rooster crowed at daylight
My book was nearly done
reading with a flashlight
And my homework never done

(Air Guitar Break)

Well I tried to call a halt
But the pages turned themselves!
It’s really not my fault
Now I missed that schoolyard bell!

(Chorus)

Performed with ASL (American Sign Language)

Chorus:
In our circle of friends
We’re kind and we share
In our circle of friends
We’re kind and we care
In our circle of friends ...
Love never ends
Love never ends
Love never ends
In our circle of friends

When there’s a problem
I’m working it out
I don’t tattle and
I don’t shout

(Chorus)

There are many ways
I can be kind
I’ll catch the door
When you walk behind

(Chorus)

In our class
We do a cheer
Just to show
We’re glad that you’re here
(Chorus)

Bridge
If you’re friendly
If you’re kind
If you share
Give a cheer! I care!

(Chorus)

Taking turns
Is one way that I share
By taking turns
I show that I care!

In our circle of friends (4 x – to end)

"Actions Speak" (grades: all)

by Brian Chevalier © Songspun Productions

I walk the walk, I show respect
By how I’m treating you
I don’t make fun, I’m showing love
I’m spreading peace, I’m like the dove

Chorus:
It’s up to me
It’s my responsibility
It’s OK to talk the talk
But actions speak,
so walk the walk
Walk the Walk!

I walk the walk, I show I care
I’m showing some compassion
If times are tough, I’ll help you through
I’m your friend I’m here for you

(chorus)

I walk the walk, I’m trustworthy
I’m honest and I’m fair
Sportsmanship is my way
My actions speak, every day

(chorus)

Bridge:
So walk the walk every day
Spread you kindness round
When you lead by example you will see
Your words will say, but your actions speak

(chorus)

"Bully Blues" (grades: 2-6)

© Susan Hamlin / Flood Wood Music

Woke up this morning
Got those cobwebs in my head
I was the schoolyard bully
But I can’t get out of bed

Outside the dawn is breakin’
My eyes don’ like the light
A bully’s game is takin’
And I know that isn’t right

Chorus:
Got those no more, lonely Bully Blues
Got those no more, lonely Bully Blues

The rooster crowed at daylight
My bully days are done
Today I’ll try to do right
And we’ll all be havin’ fun

(Air Guitar Break)

Well my friends they called a halt!
I guess I learned a few
Nobody likes a bully
Now I’m makin' friends with you!

(Chorus / Air Guitar Finale)
